The DOBOT AMB-300XS is an autonomous mobile robot platform designed for industrial material transport and mobile manipulation applications. The system combines Laser SLAM autonomous navigation with a modular mobile base that can be integrated with DOBOT collaborative robot arms, allowing transportation and robotic manipulation to be combined within a single flexible automation solution. Depending on the selected robot arm, end effector and peripheral configuration, the system can support pick-and-place, machine tending, loading and unloading, inspection and other automated handling processes.
The AMB-300XS uses Laser SLAM navigation and a two-wheel differential drive system. It can autonomously map and navigate industrial environments without requiring magnetic strips or other fixed guidance infrastructure. The platform supports a single-frame map area of up to 200,000 m², making it suitable for larger manufacturing and logistics facilities as well as individual production areas. Its maximum navigation speed is up to 1.5 m/s, with navigation accuracy of approximately ±5 mm and ±0.5°. According to DOBOT, the embedded Laser SLAM algorithm can achieve repeatability of up to ±5 mm and relative positioning accuracy of ≤±2 mm, helping the robot align reliably with machines, transfer stations and other predefined working positions.
The AMB-300XS mobile platform provides a maximum load capacity of 300 kg, allowing collaborative robot arms, grippers, cameras, fixtures and other automation equipment to be integrated according to the requirements of the application. The platform weighs approximately 120 kg including the battery and measures 845 × 585 × 700 mm without a robotic arm. Its rotation diameter is approximately 980 mm, while the specified minimum aisle width is 725 mm, allowing it to operate in relatively compact industrial traffic areas.A 48 V, 40 Ah lithium battery provides up to 8 hours of endurance. Charging from 10% to 80% takes no more than approximately 2.5 hours, and the system supports manual, automatic and quick charging methods. This allows the charging strategy to be adapted to the operating model of the facility and supports longer autonomous workflows.
Safety is supported by two SICK nanoScan3 laser scanners. The dual laser sensing system performs 360-degree scanning and can recognise configurable safety zones around the mobile robot. The platform also incorporates speed monitoring using dual encoders that supervise movement and rotational speed and can stop the motors if configured thresholds are exceeded.Proximity sensors provide an additional safety function by checking arrival at the required destination and stopping the robot when necessary to help avoid collisions. The AMB-300XS also incorporates an emergency-stop button, buzzer, ambient indicator lighting and a safety rim as part of its mobile safety architecture. Please note that the AMB-300XS fundamentally designates the autonomous mobile platform; collaborative robot arms (CR5 to CR10) and application-specific end effectors are modular add-ons and are not included in the standard package.
Compatible machine-vision systems can further expand the capabilities of the AMB-300XS. DOBOT describes support for 2.5D spatial compensation combined with 6-DOF posture positioning, enabling self-calibration and automatic orientation recognition. Vision functions can also include QR-code and symbol recognition, measurement and other image-processing applications configured through a code-free graphical interface. This is particularly valuable in mobile manipulation applications. Even highly accurate autonomous mobile robots may arrive at a workstation with small positional differences between cycles. Vision-assisted spatial compensation allows the manipulator to identify the actual position of a machine, workpiece or transfer point and adjust its movement accordingly, helping bridge the gap between mobile navigation accuracy and the precision required for manipulation tasks.
One of the main advantages of the AMB-300XS is its modular architecture. According to DOBOT, the AMMR system can work with every collaborative robot in the DOBOT CR Series (CR5 to CR10), as well as popular third-party 2D and 3D vision systems and grippers. The platform can therefore be configured with different manipulators, cameras and end effectors depending on the required payload, reach and application.Deployment is supported through a unified software environment. DOBOT states that map construction, points of interest, path planning, robot calibration and task creation can all be completed through a single software system. A resource-management system is also included for managing operations, and MES connectivity is supported.
This enables the AMB-300XS to operate as part of a wider manufacturing or logistics architecture rather than simply as an independent mobile robot. Tasks can be coordinated with production requirements, allowing the system to navigate to a workstation, perform the assigned transportation or manipulation task and then continue to another process point.
The platform provides multiple expansion and communication interfaces. The AMB-300XS includes three 24 V power-output channels with a combined 24 V/2 A capacity, eleven digital inputs supporting PNP/NPN operation and two M12 X-Code Gigabit Ethernet connections. Wireless communication is provided through Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. These interfaces allow the platform to communicate with robot arms, sensors, cameras and other automation peripherals.
The AMB-300XS is designed to operate at ambient temperatures from 0 to 50 °C and relative humidity from 10% to 90% in non-condensing conditions. Its IP20 protection rating means that the platform is primarily intended for controlled indoor environments such as factories, cleanrooms and logistics facilities.
The manufacturer also specifies Cleanroom ISO Class 5 compatibility for the AMB-300XS. The documentation states that system components meet CE requirements and references compliance with safety standards including IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and ISO 13849, together with SGS-issued certifications including ISO 3691-4:2020, CE-MD, CE-EMC and CE-RED.Cleanroom compatibility is particularly important for applications where particle contamination needs to be tightly controlled. This makes the platform relevant to semiconductor production, electronics manufacturing and other processes requiring controlled production environments.Wafer handling is one of the industrial applications specifically highlighted by DOBOT. When configured with a suitable collaborative robot, gripper and vision system, the mobile manipulator can transport wafers or other sensitive components between production equipment and perform the required transfer operation at the destination.
Another important use case is multi-machine loading and unloading. Instead of installing a dedicated robot arm next to every production machine, a mobile manipulator based on the AMB-300XS can travel between different workstations and perform loading or unloading operations where required. This can be especially valuable in flexible, small- and medium-batch manufacturing environments where machine utilisation and production schedules change regularly. A mobile manipulation platform can distribute its capacity between several machines instead of remaining permanently assigned to a single workstation. The system can also be configured for power and equipment inspection. With an appropriate camera or sensor mounted on the manipulator, the mobile platform can autonomously navigate between machines, electrical equipment or predefined inspection locations and perform visual or sensor-based checks. DOBOT specifically identifies power inspection as one of the AMMR system’s industrial applications. The manufacturer also identifies consumer electronics, machinery processing, healthcare and personal-care products as relevant industrial application areas. In these sectors, the AMB-300XS can support workflows where autonomous internal transportation and robotic manipulation need to be combined within a single process.
The key advantage of the DOBOT AMB-300XS is its ability to combine the autonomous transportation capabilities of an AMR with the manipulation capabilities of a collaborative robot arm. A conventional autonomous mobile robot typically moves a load from one location to another, while a suitably configured AMB-300XS-based mobile manipulator can also interact with the workpiece or machine once it reaches the destination. Its 300 kg platform load capacity, autonomous navigation at speeds of up to 1.5 m/s, approximately ±5 mm navigation accuracy, dual laser scanners, up to 8 hours of endurance, vision-assisted fine positioning and compatibility with DOBOT CR Series collaborative robots combine to create a flexible mobile automation platform particularly well suited to manufacturing, intralogistics and multi-workstation mobile manipulation applications.
