ETYMOTIC ER2SR
A dynamic driver reference In-ear monitor earphone

The new ER2SE delivers clean, accurate sound with high-performance dynamic drivers. The ER2SE offers Etymotic's renowned isolation with a variety of ear tips providing 35dB+ noise reduction, so you can hear all the details buried in the mix without raising the volume to compensate for ambient noise. The "Studio Reference" and "Studio Edition" models are tuned to reproduce music exactly as it was recorded, with no added coloring. No added highs, no bass boost.

Etymotic's acoustic research focuses on noise-isolating in-ear headphones. The ER4 MicroPro series earphones were the first introduced with balanced armature technology, globally recognized for their sound accuracy, serving as a reference for all other earphones. After more than 20 years, these reference quality earphones continue to be the most chosen tools by serious audio engineers, audiophiles, and musicians.

Frequency Response Graphs and the Etymotic Target:
The Etymotic target frequency response graph represents a "perceptibly flat" frequency response. Our goal is to create a flat frequency response curve when the sound notes hit your eardrum. To achieve this, we need to account for the average resonance within the ear canal, as IEMs bypass the outer ear structure. As a result, higher SPL is needed in the 2-5k region (lower treble) to compensate for the said resonance. This is the reason for the "hump" in that region.
The target curve used by Etymotic for tuning IEMs slightly differs from the Harman preference curve. It was developed in-house over 20 years ago, utilizing our expertise in human hearing and acoustic research.

Features:
The ER2SE offers Etymotic's renowned passive isolation, providing 35-42 dB of noise attenuation. You will hear every detail of the music at lower volumes, which is safer for your hearing. The flat frequency response of the ER2SE will appeal to sound technicians and audiophiles alike. The ER2SE shells are made of anodized aluminum, CNC machined with extremely tight tolerances. Utilizing a single dynamic driver allows for a very accurate IEM without the complexity of crossovers, and helps keep the aluminum body small and thin. Includes a user-replaceable cable.
The ER2SE is ideal for sound engineers, audiophiles, and budget-conscious consumers looking for ear monitors that are easy to drive while offering accurate sound reproduction.

Which ER2 suits you?
Both ER2 models, the ER2SE and the ER2XR use the same low-impedance dynamic drivers. This means they are easy to drive and do not require an amplifier. The only difference between the two models is the tuning of the lower (bass) frequencies. The "Studio Edition" ER2SE is tuned for a flat frequency response. The "eXtended Response" ER2XR is tuned for emphasized bass, with 1-2 dB more for the mid-bass and 3-4 dB more for the low bass. The other frequencies are virtually identical to the ER2SE.
The ER2SE is a great choice for budget-conscious audio creators and musicians who require precise and neutral sound reproduction. The ER2SE is also the IEM of choice for consumers who prefer to listen to their music exactly as it was recorded.
The ER2XR is favored by those who enjoy the presence and body of extra bass when listening to their music. The extra bass is tastefully done without turning the ER2XR into a bass-heavy IEM.
