Redesigned reference planar magnetic headphones
The Final D8000 DC is the latest chapter in the legendary D8000 series, returning in a completely renewed form as a result of seven years of experience and development. The "DC" name is derived from the musical term "Da Capo," meaning "back to the beginning" - this well reflects the model's philosophy, which was born by reaching back to its roots while applying the most modern technologies. The goal was to create a flagship headphone that combines natural sound, engineering precision, and long-term comfort without compromise.
Final's proprietary AFDS (Air Film Damping System) technology revolutionizes the control of diaphragm movement, eliminating the typical problem of planarmagnetic drivers, which is weak bass reproduction. In the D8000 DC, this technology has been completely redesigned: the pattern, arrangement, and design of the perforated metal plates have been precisely optimized to ensure a more detailed and clearer sound across all frequency ranges.
Thanks to the ultra-light, thin aluminum foil membrane, the mass of the vibrating system has been reduced to a third, resulting in exceptional speed, airiness, and naturalness. Thus, the sound is both full and refined, the bass is precise, the highs are crystal clear, and the mid-range is balanced.
Compared to the previous D8000 model, the open surface area increased by approximately 70% by removing the magnet in front of the driver. This design contributes to the distortion-free reproduction of high frequencies, as well as a perceptible increase in the spaciousness and depth of the soundstage. Thus, the listener gets even closer to the live music experience.
Thanks to the redesigned structure, the weight of the D8000 DC has decreased by about 100 grams compared to the previous generation. This, along with the soft, breathable ear cushions, significantly improves long-term wearing comfort, making the headphones ideal for marathon music listening sessions or workflows.
The ear cushions and headband of the D8000 DC are made from a unique Japanese paper fabric that is dry to the touch, durable, and breathable. The new cushions are 1.5 times thicker than their predecessors, providing a greater acoustic space around the ear and contributing to a wider, more natural soundstage. The breathability allows for natural bass resonance without artificially boosting it.
The headphone housing is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy, with high precision CNC machining. This extraordinary rigidity ensures that the drivers operate without resonance, while the construction guarantees reliability for many years. Every component of the D8000 DC is made in Japan, at Final's Kawasaki headquarters, where the entire manufacturing process is supervised in-house—from material processing to assembly.
Final has paid special attention to long-term sustainability: nearly every part of the D8000 DC is bolted, making it easy to repair or replace if necessary. This is a rarity in the world of high-end headphones and represents true value in terms of durability.
