Andromeda reimagined
The Campfire Audio Andromeda has been a defining name in the world of premium in-ear monitors for years. The Andromeda Emerald Sea continues this legacy with a fully redesigned construction that is not just a refinement but a comprehensive evolution of the classic concept. The new model preserves the most important strengths of the Andromeda character while elevating the listening experience with more modern technical solutions, more refined ergonomics, and an even more natural sound presentation.
The sound of the Emerald Sea offers a special balance of detail and warmth. The analog-like tonal character is complemented by an open soundstage, excellent resolution, and an engaging musical cohesion, creating a character worthy of continuing the Andromeda story.
The Andromeda Emerald Sea is built on a fully balanced armature driver architecture. The five dual-diaphragm balanced armature drivers ensure that the entire frequency range is reproduced in a balanced and natural way.
Two dedicated low-frequency drivers handle the bass range, a separate midrange driver reproduces the mids, while two independent drivers are responsible for high-frequency reproduction. This configuration allows each frequency band to receive the ideal performance and character from its own optimized unit.
One of the key characteristics of the Emerald Sea tuning is the special balance that combines a softer, more emotional presentation with precise detail retrieval. The new dual-diaphragm balanced armature drivers preserve the speed and control of balanced armature technology while adding a fuller, richer texture to the sound.
The result is a sound signature that is both refined and direct. Musical details unfold naturally while the sound never becomes sterile or fatiguing.
The two low-frequency dual-diaphragm drivers deliver a bass presentation that combines the fast response of balanced armature systems with a fuller sound. The low end remains well controlled, accurate, and defined even in complex recordings.
The sub-bass region has sufficient depth and presence while the mid-bass does not dominate the overall sound. This tuning contributes to the warm character of the Emerald Sea without sacrificing clarity or detail.
The reproduction of mid frequencies plays a key role in the musical character of the Andromeda Emerald Sea. The dedicated mid driver delivers a detailed and emotionally rich presentation that particularly shines in vocal recordings and acoustic instruments.
Vocals are rendered with natural tone, proper focus, and authentic body. The midrange emphasis is subtle and tasteful, integrating harmoniously into the overall frequency response.
The two high-frequency balanced armature drivers are responsible for preserving fine detail and airiness in the upper range. High frequencies are clean, precise, and well defined while avoiding excessive sharpness.
Cymbal decays, subtle string vibrations, and micro-details in recordings are reproduced with a high degree of naturalness. This solution ensures that the Emerald Sea remains both highly detailed and pleasant for long listening sessions.
The proprietary Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber system by Campfire Audio also plays a key role in the Emerald Sea. The precisely engineered acoustic chamber optimizes the operation of the high-frequency drivers, contributing to a more open and natural soundstage.
As a result, instruments can be placed more accurately on the virtual stage, improving separation and layering. Musical events do not appear on a single plane but unfold with perceptible depth and scale.
During the development of the Emerald Sea, the Phase Harmony Engineering philosophy focuses on fine-tuning the cooperation between drivers. The full frequency spectrum is divided into separate ranges, each handled by drivers optimized for their specific task.
The specially designed internal acoustic structures, carefully defined damping values, and the geometry of the housing together minimize the possibility of phase cancellation. This approach plays a significant role in accurate imaging, instrument separation, resolution, and natural spatial reproduction.
Inside the Emerald Sea, the integrated driver housing encloses all transducers as a single solid unit. The integrated acoustic chambers and built-in damping solutions not only improve tuning accuracy but also increase mechanical stability.
This design makes the system more resistant to external impacts while ensuring consistent long-term performance and precise operation.
The completely redesigned outer shell combines the iconic look of the Andromeda with more modern ergonomic considerations. The low-profile aluminum housing ensures a stable and comfortable fit, providing comfort even during extended listening sessions.
The carefully crafted shape reduces the likelihood of pressure points while preserving the distinctive appearance characteristic of Campfire Audio models.
The Andromeda Emerald Sea features an anodized, precision-machined aluminum housing that is both lightweight and extremely durable. Stainless steel nozzles, retaining rings, and MMCX components further enhance the durability of the construction.
The custom Matrix MMCX connectors provide a reliable, stable connection while allowing quick cable replacement or future upgrades. The included Time Stream Metal cables are made with four silver-plated copper conductors and offer three different connection options in 3.5 mm, 2.5 mm, and 4.4 mm versions, making the Emerald Sea easily integrable into various portable and home audio systems.
The sound of the Andromeda Emerald Sea is warm-toned, emotionally rich, and highly refined. The low-frequency range is fast and controlled, while maintaining a sufficiently full-bodied presence. The midrange is natural, open, and expressive, while the high frequencies complement the overall presentation with excellent resolution and fine detail.
Wide soundstage, precise positioning, and excellent layering create a spatial experience that is one of the most recognizable characteristics of the Andromeda series. The Emerald Sea enriches this heritage with a more refined, more analog-like character that conveys both technical accuracy and musical naturalness.
