final’s high-end headphones are not simply successive levels of a single technology. The D Series is the company’s open-back planar magnetic reference platform, built around its proprietary AFDS damping system, a large diaphragm area and an expansive, airy spatial presentation.

The DX Series, by contrast, is built around dynamic drivers and explores several acoustic architectures. The DX3000 CL and DX4000 CL are closed-back models, the DX6000 follows an open-back concept, while the DX10000 CL is the reference model of the closed-back dynamic line. The Collector's Edition is not a differently tuned version, but the first 150-unit collector release of the same DX10000 CL platform.

The first 150 DX10000 CL units are produced as the Collector's Edition. This special series is distinguished from the later standard version by a gold-colored outer frame, gold-colored final emblem and dedicated DX10000 CL model markings.

The limited edition is more than a color variation. Its collector packaging and dedicated accessories combine Japanese craft tradition with the precision metalworking used throughout the headphone itself. The paulownia wood box, Shingen silk pouch and solid-aluminum stand are exclusive presentation elements of this edition.

A closed-back headphone contains the acoustic energy radiated from the rear of the diaphragm within a sealed chamber. This enables substantial sound pressure, clearly perceptible low-frequency energy and effective external isolation, but reflections from the internal surfaces can also introduce resonance, prolonged decay and the box-like coloration often associated with sealed designs.

Rather than masking these effects through corrective frequency tuning, final addresses their mechanical and acoustic causes. The driver, damping system, magnetic circuit, aluminum-magnesium housing, seals and subtly air-permeable earpads work together to control the diaphragm environment and the pressure conditions inside the closed chamber.

At the heart of the DX10000 CL is a 40 mm dynamic driver whose center dome is made from true diamond. Its exceptional bending rigidity helps reduce deformation during operation, allowing the dome to remain closer to ideal pistonic motion even at greater excursion and higher frequencies.

Diamond also offers favorable internal damping, helping suppress residual vibration after the signal has stopped. The objective is not to create artificial high-frequency emphasis, but to reproduce attack and decay more accurately with less mechanical coloration of its own.

The voice coil is integrated with a lightweight, high-rigidity polyimide bobbin. The rigid bobbin transfers electromagnetic driving force to the diaphragm more precisely and helps reduce deformation of the coil structure even at large excursion.

The two fine lead wires do not contact the diaphragm surround. This avoids adding asymmetric mass and mechanical load to one side, supporting more symmetrical piston motion around the full circumference of the dome.

The True Diamond dome alone does not determine the complete behavior of the driver. final matched the surround, magnetic circuit, shorting ring and damping positioned directly behind the driver to the diamond dome’s specific mass, rigidity and motion characteristics.

The specially engineered polyurethane surround allows axial dome movement while reducing the risk of lateral rocking. An N55 neodymium magnet provides high magnetic flux density, while the aluminum shorting ring reduces excursion-dependent variation in voice-coil inductance.

The complete earcup assembly is clamped together by twelve through-bolts running from the outer housing to the front plate supporting the earpad. Uniform clamping force increases structural rigidity, stabilizes the seals and helps maintain the intended airtightness consistently from unit to unit.

The main housing structure does not rely on permanent adhesive bonding, allowing it to be disassembled and reassembled by qualified service technicians. In addition to manufacturing precision, this supports long-term serviceability and replacement of wear components.

The earpad is an active part of the tuning. A completely airtight pad can raise low-frequency pressure inside the space around the ear excessively. Instead, the ultrafine fiber structure of the DX10000 CL’s Ultrasuede covering allows a very small and precisely controlled amount of air to pass through.

Specially selected internal foam defines the pad volume and shape while distributing pressure across a broad contact area. Fit is important acoustically as well, because earpad position and sealing directly influence the behavior of the closed system.

The Collector's Edition includes a stand designed specifically for the DX10000 CL. CNC-machined from a single solid block of aluminum, it offers high rigidity, precise geometry and a visual language that complements the headphone’s machined metal components.

When not in use, the stand keeps the headphone stable and readily accessible. Its shape is designed to avoid unnecessary compression of the earpads during storage while allowing the Collector's Edition to remain an elegant permanent display on a desk or audio rack.
