The R30 features a next-generation digital filter capable of upsampling the signal while effectively reducing associated noise. This processing stage also eliminates aliasing distortion present within the conversion process’s inherent bandwidth. As a result, the signal maintains its integrity, delivering cleaner and more well-defined reproduction across the entire audible spectrum.

The Gustard R30 uses a temperature-stabilized OCXO clock, ensuring high precision and optimal stability under temperature variations. This is paired with the GCLK-02 clock module, which employs advanced PLL technology to eliminate jitter and supports either the internal OCXO or an external 10 MHz signal. The 50 Ω BNC input accepts a CMOS square wave (0.2–3.3 V) or a sine wave (0.5–3.3 V) for external synchronization.

The R30 includes a proprietary Gustard FPGA responsible for signal reconstruction and advanced digital stream processing. It handles clock distribution and processing, PLL shaping, DoP demodulation, and the reduction of switching noise in both PCM and DSD signals. This solution provides precise control at every stage, ensuring stable and optimized conversion.

In addition to its DAC functionality, the R30 can be used as an analog preamplifier, where volume control is based directly on the R2R network, enabling lossless attenuation. A bypass mode is available to disable the preamplifier stage when required. This design allows direct connection to a power amplifier or active speakers, simplifying integration into high-end audio systems.

Built on an audio-optimized Linux core, the R30’s CelWare 3.x software supports Roon Bridge, AirPlay, HQPlayer NAA, UPnP, Spotify, and additional protocols. Users can enable or disable functions via a web interface by entering “//x30.local” in a browser.

The Gustard R30 uses an XMOS XU216 USB interface, supporting PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512 for high-quality audio transmission.
