IBASSO D16 TAIPAN
Portable 1bit DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The D16 Taipan is a DAC (digital-to-analog converter) and Class A headphone amplifier that uses iBasso’s in-house developed FPGA-Master 2.0 core, and employs 16 stacked 8E PWM-DACs, for a total of 128 discrete PWM-DACs for 1-bit D/A conversion. Its measured THD+N exceeds 0.0001%, making it one of the best among current portable discrete DACs.
Built from iBasso’s custom-developed resistors, capacitors, and the code running on the FPGA-Master 2, the D16 Taipan is a fully DSD-based DAC and amplifier with DSP performance approaching -174dB THD. This USB-input DAC/amp converts CD rips, hi-res downloads, Spotify, Tidal or Apple Music streams, as well as all standard PCM material into DSD via its 1-bit decoder before performing digital-to-analog conversion. The D16 Taipan is the perfect choice for collectors of SACD rips and DSD64 files, and for anyone who wants to get the most out of their flagship in-ear and over-ear headphones.
