At the heart of the RAW-DAC1 is the pairing of the AK4191 digital modulator and the AK4499EX DAC chip. This two-stage architecture separates digital signal processing from analog conversion, resulting in a cleaner signal path and improved stability. Measured distortion is just 0.00006% (−124 dB), an exceptionally low figure that directly contributes to a clear, transparent presentation.

Sonically, this translates into a balanced character: the highs are detailed without edge, the midrange is natural and well articulated, and the bass is tight and controlled. Imaging is precise, instruments remain well separated, and the presentation stays coherent even at higher listening levels.

Digital data processing is handled by the third-generation XMOS XU-316 controller, delivering a true 32-bit USB solution. The asynchronous USB connection reduces timing errors while providing high transfer capacity. As a result, the RAW-DAC1 supports up to 32-bit/768 kHz PCM as well as DSD512 over USB, in both DoP and native DSD modes.

Via optical and coaxial inputs, PCM up to 192 kHz and DoP64 are available, ensuring both classic digital sources and high-resolution material are handled seamlessly. The system responds quickly, maintains a stable connection, and delivers a consistent sonic signature across different source devices.

The in-house CK-03 clock processing circuit is designed to minimize clock fluctuation (jitter). More accurate timing has a direct impact on clarity and spatial stability. With the RAW-DAC1, this results in more focused stereo imaging, sharper transients, and an overall calmer, more composed presentation. Details remain distinct, and the sound stays coherent during longer listening sessions.

Power delivery plays a key role in the internal design. The digital sections run from a shielded, low-noise supply, while the analog stages are fed by discrete, linear regulation. Multiple isolated, low-noise power rails ensure that sensitive analog circuits always receive stable, clean voltage.

This design directly supports the wide dynamic range, low noise floor, and retrieval of fine details, while keeping power consumption below 10 W during operation and under 0.5 W in standby.

The built-in Bluetooth 5.1 module provides more than basic wireless playback, supporting AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC in addition to SBC. With a compatible source device, this enables higher-bitrate wireless streaming, offering everyday convenience while delivering sound quality beyond typical Bluetooth performance.

The front panel features a fully laminated 2.33-inch LCD with a tempered glass cover. High light transmission ensures a crisp, easy-to-read display, and the panel is engineered for long service life. The menu system is logically structured, with two selectable UI layouts, while the included remote provides full control, from input selection to detailed settings.

The solid metal chassis helps reduce resonances and electromagnetic interference, the sculpted front panel provides a clean, premium aesthetic, and the gold-plated input/output connectors ensure reliable electrical contact. Analog outputs are available in both XLR and RCA, allowing straightforward integration into balanced and single-ended systems alike.
