The Gungnir is a fully featured desktop digital-to-analog converter, line-level preamplifier, and high-power headphone amplifier in a single unit, designed specifically for discerning music listeners and studio-oriented users. Its name—borrowed from Norse mythology as Odin’s legendary spear—symbolizes the device’s core strengths: precise signal transmission, wide dynamic headroom, and stable, reliable long-term operation.

The concept is to condense the resolution and control of a “full-size” high-end system into a compact desktop unit that fits beside a monitor, yet is capable of driving a complete headphone or loudspeaker-based system. With LTTP wireless reception, extensive digital and analog connectivity, and a high-performance headphone stage, the Gungnir easily becomes the central hub of a complete desktop setup.

The Gungnir delivers an exceptionally clean, low-noise, high-dynamic sound signature, thanks to its dual AK4499EX DAC chips paired with dual AK4191EQ modulators, operating in fully balanced mode under full load, along with carefully separated power supply, digital, and analog sections. The left and right channels utilize completely independent analog power supplies and discrete circuit modules, resulting in outstanding channel separation and a stable stereo image.

From a technical standpoint, the 4.4 mm balanced headphone output provides a frequency response of 20 Hz–20 kHz within 0.03–0.07 dB, approximately 0.00025% THD+N, a 132 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and up to 8.1 W of output power into 32 ohms—offering ample headroom for virtually any headphone. The single-ended 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm outputs deliver up to 2.2 W into 32 ohms, with around 130 dB SNR and extremely low noise, resulting in a richly detailed yet fatigue-free listening experience.

The unit supports PCM signals up to 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512. Internal signal processing is handled by an ADI Blackfin BF706 DSP and an AK4137EQ SRC chip, ensuring precise digital filtering and resampling. Multiple PCM filter options (including short delay sharp, slow, super slow, and low dispersion) are available, alongside Lotoo’s proprietary ATE/PMEQ sound modes for fine-tuning. These can also be disabled entirely for a strictly reference-grade presentation.

The digital output level is adjustable in precise steps (from 0.1 dBu / 0.8 Vrms up to 21.2 dBu / 8.9 Vrms), ensuring easy matching with downstream DACs or professional equipment. The line-level outputs also offer substantial headroom: up to 24 dBu on XLR and 18 dBu on RCA, while maintaining a 128–132 dB signal-to-noise ratio—well suited to high-end power amplifiers.

The Gungnir’s chassis is compact yet solid, measuring approximately 183 × 175 × 63 mm and weighing about 1.8 kg, providing a stable, vibration-resistant platform for its precision analog stages. The power supply is fully isolated from the digital and analog sections, and the per-channel dedicated analog power supplies ensure substantial current reserves even at high output levels, while maintaining extremely low noise.

The unit is optimized for desktop use, yet with LTTP it integrates easily with mobile sources, potentially serving as the centerpiece of a portable yet top-tier “wireless desk rig.” It is important to note that the Gungnir does not include built-in speakers; audio is always output via connected headphones or through an external amplifier/active loudspeaker system.
