To minimize unwanted resonances and distortions, Audioengine cabinets have thick MDF walls containing resin, with extensive internal stiffening. Heavy internal sound damping material is used to reduce unwanted sound reflection inside the cabinet. All the edges of the cabinet are rounded, which, in addition to looking great, reduces high-frequency diffraction effects on the front deflectors. The A2+ cabinet features tuned front port openings.
The A2+ cabinets are available with a wide range of high-gloss finishes, including black, white and red paint, which offer a modern accessory for any small room or table.
Audioengine designs and manufactures its own tweeters, subwoofers and other critical components. In other words, these are not "boxed" speakers with ready-made parts, but are custom-designed according to our specifications. What we do not produce directly in our factory, we have prepared according to our own plans (for example, transformers, magnets and cable harnesses). Cabinets, drives, bass dust designs, amplifiers and cross-switches are all carefully coordinated for all Audioengine models. This, in turn, results in a much more efficient system that requires much less power than passive speakers and separate integrated amplifier or similar A/V components.
The studio monitor speakers are used by producers and engineers in recording and production studios. They are designed with a theoretical flat frequency thread, which allows the engineer to create a final mix so that the recorded music sounds good on most other speakers. Although Audioengine speakers are not designed to be "close" studio monitors, we apply the same higher-level technology, components, and design philosophy to all Audioengine sound systems.
The speakers, drives, innovative bass port designs, amplifiers and passive cross-switches are all critically tuned for each Audioengine model. This, in turn, results in a much more efficient system that requires less power than passive speakers and separate integrated amplifier or similar A/V components. All these techniques are built into the speaker cabinet on the left to make it super-easy to connect your smartphone, tablet, computer, TV, network player or any other audio product.
The A2+ includes Bluetooth aptX encoding built into wireless speakers, which is an advanced Bluetooth audio codec with stunning sound. Even if your phone or tablet doesn't have aptX, the A2+ wireless Bluetooth solution is backwards compatible with the SBC and AAC codec, so you can stream music wirelessly from any Bluetooth-enabled device and still enjoy all the music. High-resolution Bluetooth aptX that really works and sounds great.
Extended range wireless. Most Bluetooth implementations have a very limited range, typically only in one room. But with careful signal control circuits and antenna tuning, we offer an excellent solution that has a range of up to three times as much as standard Bluetooth for multi-room use without impairing sound quality.
16-bit DACThe A2+ Bluetooth receiver uses the PCM 2704C DAC, known for its extremely low quantization noise in the audio band, with a built-in analog under-permeable filter that removes the high-frequency components of the noise-forming signal.
The amplifiers in the driven Audioengine speakers are located in the left speaker housing and have a traditional technology A/B class analog monoblock design. This is a more traditional speaker/amplifier configuration that delivers excellent sound quality and greater flexibility. All circuit boards of the power and preamplifier part are installed vertically for maximum mechanical shock protection.
The Audioengine uses audiofil-quality, ferrofluide-cooled silk dome tweeters with neodymium magnets. Silk tweeters can withstand high performance well, and the enjoyable design gives a very smooth reaction. The subwoofers are made of aramid fiber woven glass composite with a rubber casing. The aramid fiber is obviously very strong, which means that the deep-speaker membrane retains its shape when driven at high power.
Both drivers are directly video-shielded and allow the user to place the speakers within a few centimeters of the video monitor. This shield also protects digital music players on hard disks.
