In-ear monitor with two BA drivers
The Westone Audio W20 is a dual balanced-armature (BA) driver in-ear monitor designed to deliver a detailed, controlled and well-balanced sound. The model uses separate low-frequency and high-frequency drivers, so the sound is not built around a single full-range unit, but reproduces the different frequency ranges with greater precision.
The construction of the W20 provides a more natural and accurate listening experience, where detail retrieval, midrange clarity and the controlled presence of the highs take priority over excessive bass emphasis.
The dual BA driver design is one of the key specifications of the Westone Audio W20: one driver is responsible for the low frequencies, another for the high frequencies, while a passive crossover handles the distribution of the frequency range.
This solution enables cleaner separation, more precise detail reproduction and a more organized soundstage, with a 20 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response covering the essential part of the musical range.
The W20’s universal-fit housing is compact, low-profile and lightweight. With in-ear monitors, fit is not only a matter of comfort, but also has a direct effect on sound quality, as a proper seal ensures stable bass response and reduces external noise.
WA Ergonomic Ear Tip Technology ear tips are designed to provide a more precise fit and a stable acoustic seal. The five pairs of foam ear tips included in the package help adapt the earphones to the ear canal, resulting in comfortable wear and a more consistent sound during longer listening sessions.
The Westone Audio W20 provides 25 dB of passive noise attenuation. This comes from the in-ear design and the physical seal created by the correct ear tip, not from active electronic noise cancellation. The advantage of passive attenuation is that it requires no separate power supply and does not affect the signal with additional electronics.
The Westone Audio W20 package includes a Bluetooth cable with aptX technology, delivering a detailed, clear and dynamic sound with greater freedom of movement, while the detachable MMCX connector design preserves the flexibility of the system.
The Bluetooth cable offers 8 hours of battery life and a range of approximately 10 meters. Its IPX4 water and dust resistance rating makes the cable more resistant to splashing moisture and dust encountered in everyday use. Thanks to the MMCX connectors, the cable can also be used with other compatible earphones.
For wired use, the W20 also includes an MFi-compatible cable with a built-in microphone. The cable is designed for use with iPhone, iPod and iPad devices, and supports volume control, track control, call answering and Siri activation.
One of the key advantages of the detachable cable system is that the earphones are not limited to a single mode of use: the wired connection provides a more precise, more direct signal path, while the Bluetooth cable offers greater freedom of movement.
In addition to the earphones, the Westone Audio W20 package also includes cables for both wired and Bluetooth use. The three-button cable with microphone, the Westone Audio Bluetooth cable, five pairs of ergonomic foam ear tips, the exchangeable faceplates and the premium small carrying case expand the in-ear monitor with an accessory set that supports everyday portability as well as personalization.
