TOPPING LA90
A WINNER IN THE FIGHT AGAINTS DISTORTION AND NOISE
Topping LA90 sets new standards. Measurements by the most renowned independent US authority have resulted in the best SINAD ever.
WHAT IS SINAD AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
One of the most important goals in the development of sound amplifiers is to keep the nature of the amplified signal as close as possible to the original signal. The closer it is, the less it alters the original sound of the recordings. The aim is to ensure that the amplifier distorts the original signal shape as little as possible over the full frequency range and over the widest possible power range. The achievement of these objectives is shown by the distortion data. The SINAD value shows the ratio of the total output signal generated by the device to the sum of noise and distortion, expressed in decibels (dB). The higher this ratio, the lower the distortion and the better the technical performance of the device. It's no coincidence that the largest independent US test portal is constantly using it to assess the capabilities of its devices.

ROBUST AND STURDY FRAME
The LA90 is housed in a precision CNC machined aluminium enclosure, giving the amplifier a modern look while effectively protecting the unit's components. The sides of the LA90 are fitted with large heat sinks that efficiently dissipate the heat generated by the internal electronics.

HIGH PERFORMANCE WITH LOW DISTORTION
LA90 produces extremely low distortion, as low as 0.00007% at 8 Ω load at 10 W output power and 0.00008% at 4 Ω load at 20 W output power. In the sub-40W power range typical of home listening, distortion is consistently below 0.0001%, an order of magnitude quite unusual for an amplifier, and one that only the best D/A converters can deliver.

TWO GAIN LEVELS
In order to adapt to the specificities of audio systems, the LA90 offers two gain levels. The Low Gain setting provides +6.7 dB, while the High Gain setting provides +19 dB of preamplification.

MONO / STEREO MODE
The Topping LA90 can be configured in both stereo and mono mode, the latter capable of delivering twice the power, up to 220 W. Two LA90 amplifiers in mono mode can be combined to create an extra high power system. In this case, the minimum load impedance is 8Ω.

VOLUME CONTROL
The LA90's volume can be adjusted using the large knob on the front panel. Motorised potentiometers have a bad effect on the sound quality, therefore this solution has not been used for this unit and therefore the volume cannot be adjusted by remote control. This can be achieved by using a remote-controlled preamplifier or a D/A converter with preamplifier mode. These solutions are particularly useful if two LA90 amplifiers connected in a bridge are to be used.

BALANCED INPUTS
The LA90 has three selectable symmetrical inputs. These are in a combined format, allowing the use of cables with XLR and 6.35 mm Jack connectors. The three inputs are also available in mono mode.
