Shanling celebrates the 10th anniversary of the M5 Ultra portable player with the new M5 Ultra 10th Anniversary Edition. While retaining much of its previous high-tech construction, it has been enhanced with a few exclusive collector components to delight audiophiles. The AKM AK4499EX and AK4191EQ chips and XMOS XU316 USB interface allow the same high-quality playback, with the same I/V conversion stage as the M9 Plus. The TPA6120A2 amplifier can deliver up to 1070 mW power at 32 ohms, with a battery life of up to 10.5 hours.
The bidirectional Bluetooth 5.2 supports LDAC, while the dual-band WiFi enables DLNA and AirPlay, seamlessly integrating with NAS storage devices and TIDAL. Running on Shanling's closed MTouch system, it can operate as a USB DAC and Bluetooth receiver for Spotify, Qobuz, and others. It features an aluminum casing, 4.7” IPS touchscreen, bidirectional USB-C port, MicroSD slot (up to 2 TB), a 3.5mm jack, and a 4.4mm balanced audio output.
Compared to the standard M5 Ultra, this special edition includes vintage-sounding Panasonic and Elna Silmic II capacitors, improved tuning, warmer tones, high-purity internal wiring, a gold-plated control knob, updated system graphics, and an engraved premium chassis.
