The HP2A employs a stepped resistor volume control built from precisely matched resistors at every volume step. This ensures perfect channel balance, low noise, and minimal signal degradation, enabling accurate and consistent perception of musical details. The true balanced Class A topology maintains separate positive and negative signal paths per channel, minimizing noise, distortion, and crosstalk. The sound is linear, transparent, and dynamically rich, while the HP2A also stands its ground as a reference-level preamplifier.

The headphone output stage uses 4 EXICON MOSFETs per channel in a discrete Class AB configuration, ensuring high current delivery capability, low distortion, and excellent thermal stability. EXICON lateral MOSFETs are extremely linear, have fast transient response, and provide a natural harmonic character, resulting in a smooth, detailed, and musically natural sound signature. The HP2A can easily drive both low- and high-impedance headphones while fully preserving dynamics and detail.

Using the front panel, the user can choose between headphone amplifier, preamplifier, or using both simultaneously, making the HP2A adaptable to various systems. Multiple headphone connections are available, including balanced XLR4, 4.4 mm Pentaconn, and unbalanced 6.35 mm jack, allowing compatibility with most high-end headphones, including planar magnetic and dynamic driver models. Modular Harmony LExt expansion options add additional inputs, such as a phono stage or extra XLR/RCA inputs, ensuring the HP2A can be future-proofed for complex hi-fi configurations.

Two OLED displays on the front panel show the input source, volume level, and current operating mode, while a single rotary encoder provides precise volume and menu navigation. Ergonomic and safety solutions such as anti-slip spike bases, configurable volume limit, and intelligent protection circuits (against DC offset, overheating, and overload) ensure smooth and safe operation. The 12V trigger input and output, as well as unified remote control with the Harmony DAC, allow synchronized system control, simplifying the management of complex audio systems.

The HP2A’s black anodized aluminum enclosure with gold accents combines minimalist elegance with premium material quality. Robust, precise engineering ensures durability and stable operation while visually harmonizing with any high-end audio system.
