The Musician Audio AQUILA is an R2R-based, fully discrete preamplifier that combines balanced Class A operation with modern controls and a versatile selection of analogue connections.

The unit offers a frequency response of 10 Hz to 100 kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB and a dynamic range of more than 120 dB, while its 0.0003% THD+N supports clean, detailed signal transmission.

The AQUILA’s amplification path is built entirely from discrete transistors. True balanced Class A operation eliminates crossover distortion and ensures continuous signal transmission.

The design is intended to preserve warm vocals, rich instrumental harmonics and a balanced, detailed musical presentation.

The relay-controlled, 60-step resistor ladder volume system maintains constant output impedance at every volume level while preserving the lossless audio signal and fine soundstage details.

The 60 fine steps enable smooth and precise volume adjustment. The desired level can be changed directly using the large front-panel volume control or from the listening position with the included remote control.

The AQUILA uses a custom-developed 80 W O-type transformer and a low-noise linear power supply. Single-crystal copper wire reduces eddy-current interference, supporting low-ripple, high-speed voltage regulation.

The parallel Class A power supply is designed to enhance low-frequency density and deliver balanced performance across the full frequency range. Power consumption is 1 W in standby mode and 20 W during operation.

The 0.0003% THD+N indicates low-distortion, detailed signal transmission, while the 10 Hz–100 kHz frequency response provides a wide operating range extending from low frequencies to ultra-high harmonics.

The 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of more than 120 dB support clean sound with low noise, while −110 dB stereo crosstalk contributes to precise channel separation.

With two XLR inputs and one RCA analogue input, the AQUILA allows multiple audio sources to be connected simultaneously. A CD player, DAC, digital media player or another compatible line-level source can be integrated into the system, with one-button switching between inputs.

The dual-output design, featuring XLR and RCA connections, supports both balanced and unbalanced home audio systems. The two outputs can drive two power amplifiers simultaneously, leaving room for future system expansion.

The AQUILA’s front panel features a combined input selector and standby button, a separate large volume control and a digital display.

The clear layout provides direct access to the functions required for everyday use: the display shows the selected input and current volume level in real time, while the thoughtfully arranged controls enable quick and straightforward operation.

The CNC-machined, brushed-aluminium remote control uses ALPS buttons and a VISHAY infrared diode. It provides remote control over power, mute, analogue input selection and volume.

The Musician Audio AQUILA features a sturdy, durable chassis made from CNC-machined, brushed, aerospace-grade aluminium, providing a clean and cohesive appearance.

The metal chassis also blocks external radio-frequency interference, contributing to cleaner operation of the internal circuitry.
