COMPACT HOUSINGS WITH DISTINCT WEARING FEEL

The lightweight aluminium housing of the AL4.4 prioritises comfort during longer everyday listening. The included silicone eartips in several sizes allow the seal and fit to be adjusted individually, which also contributes to passive isolation and perceived bass response.

The palladium-plated copper housing of the Pd4.4 offers a higher mass and a stable, substantial feel. The manufacturer associates the denser housing material and carefully controlled wall thickness with wearing stability and support for passive noise isolation. Selecting the appropriate eartip size is essential for a comfortable and secure seal with either model.

THE DEDICATED ACOUSTIC TUNING OF MEMORY 4.4

The Memory 4.4 is not simply the USB Memory model fitted with a 4.4 mm plug. The manufacturer redesigned both the positions and surface areas of the front and rear chamber vents, then completed the revised acoustic construction with a custom shielded cable and dedicated plug.

The result is a passive IEM that can be used with a dedicated DAC or a player equipped with a 4.4 mm balanced headphone output. With 121 dB/Vrms sensitivity and 16 Ω impedance, actual listening level, dynamics and character will still depend on the source, its amplification stage and the recording.

4.4 MM BALANCED CABLE, TWO CONDUCTOR TYPES

Both Memory 4.4 versions use a fixed 120 cm cable terminated with a 4.4 mm balanced plug. The balanced output is provided by a compatible DAC, portable music player or headphone amplifier. The earphones cannot be connected directly to a 3.5 mm single-ended output.

The AL4.4 uses a grey 5N OCC braided cable, while the Pd4.4 uses a black 6N OCC braided cable. This distinction is part of the material design and appearance of each version rather than a quality ranking: both cables are designed for their respective housing version and the dedicated acoustic construction of the Memory 4.4.

OVER-EAR CABLE ROUTING AND EARTIP SELECTION

The Memory 4.4 cable routes over the ear, helping the housings remain stable and keeping the cable path more organised. Select an eartip that matches the size of the ear canal, as this is important for comfort, seal and perceived bass response alike.

One pair of S-size ST35 eartips is pre-installed, while three pairs of KIWIEARS KIWIFLEX silicone eartips in S, M and L are also included. The two versions share the same shape, but the differing weights of the AL4.4 and Pd4.4 can result in a different sense of stability and mass in the ear.

PRECISION CONSTRUCTION, RETRO-INSPIRED DETAILS

The Memory name recalls the physical culture of early portable listening, but the design is not simple nostalgia. The series reinterprets this design language through CNC-machined metal housings, a modern planar driver, textile-like cable sleeving and materials selected for long-term use.

The differently coloured details of the AL4.4 and Pd4.4 follow their material choices. The grey cable and aluminium housing highlight the lighter presentation of the AL4.4, while the black cable and palladium-plated copper emphasise the more substantial, classic appearance of the Pd4.4.

RETRO CASE FOR SAFER TRANSPORT

Included as standard, the black CZ120B case has proportions reminiscent of classic cassette players. Its microfibre leather exterior and YKK zipper are designed for everyday portability, while the internal dividers help prevent the two metal housings from contacting one another during storage.

The case is particularly practical when the earphones are carried in a bag or coat pocket. Loosely coiling the cable and placing the housings separately can reduce scratching, lateral strain on the plug and unnecessary cable kinking.

FOR USE WITH A 4.4 MM SOURCE

The Memory 4.4 is a conventional analogue passive earphone, with no USB DAC, battery or wireless electronics built in. It accepts the output of a music player, a phone-connected DAC, a portable player or a desktop headphone amplifier through its 4.4 mm balanced connection.

Always set the source volume low before connecting, then increase it gradually. The 4.4 mm balanced plug is intended only for a genuine balanced headphone output, so check the electrical compatibility of the source and adapter before using an adapter.
