BALANCED HEADPHONE UPGRADE CABLE WITH 4.4 MM TERMINATION

DD HIFI BC150G

The DD HIFI BC150G is a 4.4 mm balanced headphone upgrade cable for full-size headphones. It uses separate signal conductors for positive and negative polarity, an outer cross-braided shield and a choice of factory-fitted headphone-side connectors. This makes it suitable for systems ranging from portable players to desktop headphone amplifiers with a 4.4 mm balanced output.

BC150G SHORT SHOWCASE VIDEO

A short showcase of the BC150G materials, cable routing and headphone use, accompanied by music.

DD HIFI BC150G connected to a 4.4 mm balanced output — The 4.4 mm balanced plug is compatible with portable and desktop devices equipped with a 4.4 mm headphone output.

DESIGNED FOR 4.4 MM BALANCED OUTPUTS

The amplifier-side end of the BC150G is a five-pole 4.4 mm balanced plug. It is not an adapter: it is intended for direct connection to a player, DAC/headphone amplifier or dedicated headphone amplifier with its own 4.4 mm headphone output. Check the connector type on the source device before purchase.

Balanced wiring carries the positive and negative signals of the left and right channels through separate conductor paths. The actual benefit depends on the complete signal path of the device, the internal wiring of the headphones and the chosen connector, while the BC150G construction is designed for this differential connection.

WITHIN THE BC150 HEADPHONE CABLE FAMILY

BC150B, BC150G and BC150XLR belong to the same upgrade cable family for full-size headphones, but address different connector and construction requirements. The right choice depends primarily on the amplifier output, headphone socket, required length and preferred cable construction, not on a simple quality ranking.

BC150G fits 4.4 mm systems with its dedicated balanced dual-branch conductor structure, separate silver and OCC copper signal conductors and floating outer shielding. BC150B also uses a 4.4 mm termination with the family’s coaxial dual-shielded construction, while BC150XLR is intended for headphone amplifiers that use a 4-pin XLR balanced output.

Model	Amplifier-side termination	Cable construction	Practical role
BC150B	4.4 mm balanced	Coaxial, dual-shielded conductor construction; combination of silver, OCC and shielding conductors	For 4.4 mm systems, with multiple available lengths and headphone-side connector options
BC150G	4.4 mm balanced	Balanced dual-branch, 2+2+1 cable construction with floating outer shielding	For 4.4 mm systems when a soft, flexible, cross-braided shielded construction and the specified BC150G connector range are required
BC150XLR	4-pin XLR balanced	Coaxial, dual-shielded conductor construction with the BC150B family material combination	For a desktop amplifier with a 4-pin XLR headphone output

The table helps clarify connection and construction differences. Available headphone-side plugs and lengths may vary by product version.

BALANCED DUAL-BRANCH, FLEXIBLE SHIELDED CABLE CONSTRUCTION

The BC150G 2+2+1 construction uses distinct conductor materials for the positive and negative signals. Both main branches consist of twisted conductor groups surrounded by a cross-braided outer shielding mesh. The balanced dual-branch shape places less stress on the conductors during bending, so the construction is designed for a softer, more manageable cable feel.

The parallel twisted construction and outer mesh are intended to reduce the effects of electromagnetic interference around the signal path. The cable does not transform the inherent character of an amplifier or headphone, but its separate conductor paths and shielding represent deliberate cable engineering with the complete system in mind.

DD HIFI BC150G internal conductor and shielding construction — The cable cross-section shows the signal conductors, dual internal insulation and outer cross-braided shielding.

DD HIFI BC150G rosewood and aluminium alloy fittings — High-density rosewood and aluminium alloy combine to give the cable its characteristic exterior, with natural and metal details.

ROSEWOOD AND ALUMINIUM ALLOY DETAILS

The plug housing and cable fittings combine high-density rosewood with aluminium alloy. These materials do more than add visual character to the parts handled during use: the metal elements support durable, precise fit while the wood provides a warmer tactile surface.

The manufacturer also identifies the natural damping properties of rosewood as a design benefit. This concerns the handling of mechanical micro-vibrations in the cable, while the final sound depends on the headphones, amplifier and music being played.

FLOATING SHIELDING FOR SYSTEM-INDEPENDENT USE

The BC150G main cable consists of two branches, each containing four conductor groups. They carry the positive and negative signals of the left and right channels, while the outer mesh acts as shielding. Signal conductor gauge is 22.9 AWG × 2 and shielding gauge is 21.5 AWG × 2.

The shielding mesh is isolated from the metal housing of the 4.4 mm plug and is floating at both ends. This is intended to avoid creating an unwanted ground connection in certain multi-component systems. It does not replace correct system grounding, but it is a deliberate aspect of the cable construction.

DD HIFI BC150G 4.4 mm balanced plug — The 4.4 mm termination is intended for a five-pole balanced headphone output; the outer shielding mesh is not connected to the plug housing.

THE HEADPHONE-SIDE CONNECTOR MUST MATCH THE SPECIFIC MODEL

BC150G is not made with a single universal headphone-side plug. The correct version must be selected according to the headphone’s physical socket and internal pinout. Identical connector shapes can still have different internal wiring, so mechanical fit alone does not confirm electrical compatibility.

The headphones in the table are references listed in the manufacturer’s compatibility guide. If your exact model is not listed, or its version uses a different socket depth, request confirmation before purchase with the exact headphone model and selected BC150G product code.

DD HIFI BC150G selectable headphone-side connectors — BC150G is available with several common full-size headphone connectors, but selecting the correct version requires checking the exact headphone model.

145 OR 200 CM: LENGTH OPTIONS FOR THE SYSTEM

BC150G is available in 145 cm and 200 cm cable lengths. The shorter version can provide a cleaner arrangement when the player or desktop amplifier is close to the listening position. The longer cable can be more suitable when the amplifier is placed on a shelf, stand or a more distant part of the desk.

According to the manufacturer, the 145 cm cable weighs approximately 65 g and the 200 cm version approximately 84 g. Weight can vary with the selected headphone-side connector. The cable uses high-transparency SoftFlex PVC insulation for flexible daily use.

CARE GUIDANCE FOR LONG SERVICE LIFE

Turn off or lower the volume on the headphone amplifier before connecting the cable. Always connect and remove plugs by their housings in a straight direction. Do not pull the cable, twist headphone-side connectors or force a plug when the fit is unclear.

When not in use, coil the cable in large, loose loops and avoid persistent sharp bends. Clean the natural wood elements with a dry, soft cloth. If you notice noise, loss of one channel or an uncertain fit, first check the connector types and the exact compatibility of the headphones.

WHAT IS IN THE BOX?

Each BC150G product code includes one complete, factory-assembled headphone upgrade cable. The selected model already determines the headphone-side connector, cable length and resulting final configuration.

The 3.5 mm flat, 3.5 mm recessed extended, A2DC and other connector variants are separate products. Each is available in 145 cm and 200 cm versions, so connector and length must be verified from the selected product code. One package does not include multiple interchangeable cable ends, but one BC150G cable assembled for a specific headphone connection.
