One of the defining elements of the MC331 is its pair of 5654W vacuum tubes. The combination of tube and solid-state technology brings the character of classic tube audio equipment together with the compact design and high output power of an integrated amplifier.

At the heart of the power amplification stage is the TPA3221 amplifier chip. The unit delivers 2 x 105 W into a 4-ohm load, while the supported speaker impedance is up to 8 Ohm. This design enables direct amplification of passive stereo speakers while keeping the MC331 compact enough for desktop use.

The two vacuum tubes are more than just part of the MC331's visual design: as a central element of its hybrid circuit concept, they contribute to shaping the sonic character and can also be replaced when desired.

The MC331 accepts both analog and digital sources, allowing it to serve as the hub of different audio systems without requiring a separate DAC or Bluetooth receiver. The rear panel provides RCA, USB, optical and coaxial connections, while Bluetooth handles wireless playback.

The RCA input is intended for analog line-level sources. The digital USB, optical and coaxial inputs support signals up to 24-bit/96 kHz. Input modes can be selected using the main front-panel control or the included remote control.

Bluetooth connectivity enables convenient wireless playback from a smartphone, tablet or other compatible source. A dedicated antenna connects to the rear of the MC331 for wireless reception.

Supported Bluetooth codecs include SBC and AAC, while the specified wireless connection range is at least 10 metres. The remote control also provides dedicated Bluetooth mode selection and Bluetooth pairing reset, allowing the wireless source to be controlled from a distance.

The built-in digital-to-analog converter allows a computer or digital player to be connected directly to the MC331. This eliminates the need for a separate external DAC when using USB, optical or coaxial digital sources.

The USB, optical and coaxial inputs support sampling up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The USB connection is intended exclusively for data transmission and cannot be used to power the MC331.

The MC331 is not limited to driving passive speakers. The rear-panel Pre-Out allows an additional powered system component to be connected, while a dedicated 3.5 mm headphone output is located on the front panel.

The headphone output supports headphones with an impedance between 32 and 300 Ohm. When headphones are connected, the headphone output takes priority over the speaker output, so the headphones must be unplugged to use passive speakers. The Pre-Out also allows the MC331 to be integrated into a system with an additional powered component.

Separate bass and treble controls allow the tonal balance to be adjusted quickly to suit the speakers, room acoustics or a particular recording. The traditional rotary controls make these adjustments possible without an app or menu system.

Bass and treble can be adjusted using the front-panel controls as well as the remote control. The included remote also provides volume adjustment, mute, input selection and Bluetooth control.

The front-panel VU meter adds a moving needle that follows the rhythm of the audio signal, complementing the appearance of the two visible vacuum tubes. In this way, the MC331 recalls the visual character of classic amplifiers while remaining a modern desktop device in terms of size and connectivity.

The main rotary control handles power, input selection and volume adjustment. To power on the unit, press and hold it for approximately two seconds, while a short press switches between inputs. Dedicated input indicator lights and an infrared remote control complete the user interface.
