Precision Volume Control
The HP2A uses a stepped resistor ladder volume control, constructed from precisely matched resistors for each volume step. This solution ensures low noise, perfect channel balance, and minimal signal degradation. Unlike traditional potentiometers, this system guarantees constant, predictable operation across the entire volume range—crucial for both headphone and speaker use.
Fully Balanced Class A Preamplifier
The true balanced Class A topology results in minimal noise, crosstalk, and distortion. Each channel operates with separate positive and negative signal paths and runs continuously in Class A, delivering exceptionally linear, transparent, and dynamically rich sound. The HP2A is not only an outstanding headphone amplifier but also serves as a reference-level preamplifier.
Discrete Headphone Amplifier with EXICON MOSFETs
The headphone amplifier section uses 4 EXICON MOSFETs per channel in a discrete Class AB configuration. This output stage delivers high current capability, low distortion, and excellent thermal stability. The result is powerful, clean, and dynamic sound that easily drives both high- and low-impedance headphones.
EXICON MOSFET Technology
EXICON lateral MOSFETs are chosen for their high linearity, fast transient response, and natural harmonic character. These transistors provide a smooth, detailed, and musically natural sound signature, making the HP2A an excellent choice for critical listening with any headphone or music genre.
Selectable Output Modes
Users can easily switch between three operating modes using the front panel controls:

Dual OLED Displays and Intuitive Interface
The front panel features two OLED displays showing the input source, volume level, and current operating mode. The intuitive interface offers a clean, elegant look. The single rotary encoder ensures precise and pleasant volume and menu navigation.

The HP2A supports Laiv’s modular LExt input system. Through the LE-LINK connection, users can insert the following expansion modules into the device:

- LExt IN2: one balanced XLR and one unbalanced RCA input
- This modular solution enables the HP2A to remain future-proof and flexible
The 12V trigger input and output allow the HP2A to synchronize with other devices, such as the Laiv Harmony DAC or third-party amplifiers. This way, the entire system can be powered on and off simultaneously, simplifying control even in complex setups.
Unified Remote Control with Harmony DAC
The HP2A uses the same remote control protocol as the Laiv Harmony DAC, so both devices can be controlled with a single remote. This shared control enhances usability and system integration.
