PURPOSE-BUILT OTG LINK FOR IOS AND USB AUDIO

The MFi06 connects to the iOS device through its Lightning OTG plug and to the external audio component through its USB Type-C OTG plug. It allows a Lightning-equipped iPhone or other iOS source to send its digital music signal to a USB Type-C device that operates as a compatible USB audio receiver on iOS.

This cable is neither a DAC nor a headphone amplifier, so it does not convert or amplify the signal. Digital reception and conversion to analogue audio are handled by the connected USB DAC or USB-C audio device.

WHAT CAN IT CONNECT?

Both the signal direction and the function of the connected device matter. The cable works as intended when a compatible Lightning-equipped iOS device is connected on one side and a compatible USB Type-C USB audio receiver is connected on the other.

SHORT, RIGHT-ANGLE DESIGN FOR PORTABLE AUDIO RIGS

The MFi06 version uses an 8 cm cable with a right-angle connector layout. This format keeps a portable audio rig tidy when the iOS device and external DAC or decoding device are positioned side by side, stacked together or carried as one compact setup.

Its short length reduces excess cable loops between the two components. Allow the cable a gentle, natural bend during use, and always remove the plugs by their housings rather than pulling on the cable itself.

6N SILVER-PLATED OCC CONDUCTOR WITH MULTI-STRAND CONSTRUCTION

DD HIFI specifies 6N silver-plated OCC, or Ohno Continuous Cast single-crystal copper, for the MFi06. The cable uses four braided main bundles, engineered to provide a neat layout and the mechanical resilience required from a short interconnect in a portable audio chain.

Each main bundle contains 90 conductor strands, with 30 strands in the inner layer and 60 strands in the outer layer. The four smaller bundles form a larger circular braid together with their insulation. The manufacturer specifies German-made materials for the outer jacket and insulation.

ONE-PIECE ALUMINIUM ALLOY CONNECTOR HOUSING

The MFi06 uses one-piece aluminium alloy connector housings. The metal construction protects the connection area, gives the plugs a secure grip and supports the practical demands of daily portable use.

On such a short cable, the connector areas are the points most exposed to handling. Align each plug with its socket before insertion and connect it in a straight movement. Do not force the connection if resistance is felt.

COMPATIBILITY AND CORRECT USE

OTG operation depends on more than the physical USB Type-C connector. The connected DAC or audio device must support USB audio with iOS, and its power arrangement must also be suitable for the intended setup.

Some portable DAC and headphone amplifier models can operate from their own battery while their charging function remains active. Check the documentation of the connected device to determine whether its charging function needs to be disabled for OTG use with an iOS source.
