Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The SMSL DO300EX digital-to-analog converter promises detailed and accurate sound reproduction with an AKM AK4191 + AK4499EX DAC chip pairing, and 32bit 768kHz DSD512 resolution and MQA-CD decoding through an XMOS XU-316 USB interface chip. The wireless Bluetooth 5 connection is handled by a QCC5125 chip, supporting aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC codecs.
Headphone amplification is provided by a TPA6120A2 chip, delivering 1W @ 32 Ohm output through 4.4mm and 6.35mm jacks, which is sufficient to drive most Hi-Fi headphones. In addition to single-ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs, AES/EBU, I2S, COAX, optical, Bluetooth, and USB-C inputs can also be found. The front panel features a colorful IPS display protected by hardened glass, which is easy to read and can be freely turned off.
