The SU-1 uses the latest AKM AK4493S DAC chip and XMOS XU-316 USB interface, enabling processing of up to 768 kHz/32 bit PCM and DSD512 signals. During digital recording, temporal distortion can occur during analog-to-digital conversion, leading to blurred transients. This means the listener cannot precisely hear the origin of each sound, and the recording does not reproduce the 'live' experience. MQA can reduce this distortion, creating a real, spatial 3D sound image that accurately reproduces every detail of the music.

Packaging the sound - musical origami

After eliminating blur, MQA uses a special 'musical origami' process that transforms high-resolution audio into an easy-to-handle and compatible format. This allows the file to work properly on all modern players and streaming services without quality loss.

Decoding and rendering - recreating studio sound

When playing back an MQA file, the SU-1 uses full MQA decoder functionality to unfold every detail of the sound.
