A new era in the world of planar magnetic headphones
The Final Audio D8000 DC Pro Edition is the Japanese manufacturer's latest flagship headphone, created through a complete redesign of the previous D8000 models. The "DC" abbreviation comes from the Da Capo musical term, which means a return to the beginning – and this precisely reflects the development philosophy: everything was reconsidered from scratch, from the diaphragm material and manufacturing technology to the design of the ear pads. The result is a semi-open planar magnetic headphone that offers precise, detailed, and expansive sound while remaining a comfortable and long-term designed device.
At the heart of the model is the latest version of the Final's patented AFDS (Air Film Damping System) technology. This innovation is capable of eliminating one of the biggest problems of planar magnetic systems: membrane collision and bass distortion under high excursion. Every element of the redesigned AFDS—from the pattern of the perforations to the structure of the metal plates—has been optimized, allowing the system to operate more stably over a wider frequency range. The result: precise, extended bass, airy and open mid-range, and extremely fine, detailed high sounds.
One of the key elements of the new design is the removal of the magnet in front of the driver, which results in a 70% increase in aperture ratio compared to the previous generation. This change not only reduces distortions but also allows for much more detailed and clearer reproduction of high frequencies.
The operation of the AFDS requires a high-precision and extremely rigid housing. The D8000 DC Pro Edition casing is made from an aluminum-magnesium alloy, shaped using high-precision milling. This solution reduces unwanted resonances, enabling the drive to work in the cleanest possible environment.
One of the special features of the headphone is the ear pad made from a fabric combined with Japanese Washi paper. The material is breathable, durable, and provides a natural feel. The thickness of the pads has been increased by 1.5 times compared to previous models, creating a larger acoustic space around the ear, resulting in a more spacious soundstage and more realistic vocal representation. The same premium material has been used for the headband cover, enhancing durability and long-term comfort.
The redesigned body is nearly 100 grams lighter than the previous generation, making the headphones more comfortable for long listening sessions. Thanks to the screw connections in the construction, almost every part can be replaced or repaired, making the D8000 DC Pro Edition a particularly long-term investment.
The Pro Edition comes factory-equipped with silver-plated, high-purity OFC cables that ensure the best signal transmission. It offers two connection options: a 1.5-meter, 4.4mm balanced cable and a 3-meter, 4-pin XLR cable. The headphones come with a sturdy, lockable protective case, where cables and accessories can be safely stored.
